I'm out of the closet... sort of

Last night I told my brother and his wife that i am gay.

Coming out to them was one of the hardest things I have ever done and their response was more than I could have dreamed... They don't just support me in being who I am, and will keep it secret for me, they want to help me. If someone turns on me for being what I am... they want to help me. If I ever get torn up because a boyfriend leaves me... they want to help.

But the best thing is they told me straight out, in no uncertain terms, if my parents find out about me being gay and disown me for it (which is a very real possibility)... my brother and his (pregnant) wife would go with me into being disowned. I have no words for how much that means to me. My brother and his wife and their potential k**s would walk away from my whole family for ME... Ive always felt like I was baggage in a social situation and to have my brother and his wife not only accepting me for what I am but willing to go to bat for me against the rest of my family is something I never thought would happen.

No idea how to end this post so I'll just say that I'm happy and hope you are happy too.

So awesome that they are such good people! I'm gay, and literally terrified of telling anyone, especially my sister, and parents. Though I think they know, I'm just not ready yet

That’s amazing man!!! Well done to you and your bro and his wife are awesome people and that’s the sort of people you wanna surround yourself with so good on them too.
