Songs of June...maybe...

YAY !
For once I'm not all that late for this. Not like it matters to anyone but I'll still do this once in a while.
So here are 5 songs that I've been coming back to for all of the month of June. What ? June isn't over ? Fuck it !
And as always...don't question my taste of music...I KNOW IT'S WEIRD !!!

1- Hank Williams III - I'm The Only Hell (My Mama Ever Raised)
Yes, Hank III is the grands*n of Hank Williams and the s*n of Hank Williams Jr. And he's just as great !

2- Jack White - Would You Fight For My Love?
Jack White is just one of the most talented guys of his generation.

3- Guana Batz - I'm On Fire
It's actually a cover from a Bruce Springsteen song, in case you didn't know.

4- Dion DiMucci - Runaround Sue
What ?! This song is absolutely fuckin' awesome !

5- The Muppets - I'm Gonna Always Love You
If you've never seen this movie go watch it, it's just great. Like...seriously great !

to talonequ : Yeah it happens sometimes Youtube blocks some songs in some countries, it's a copyright stupid shit.
Well I guess you have to thank my love for the 50s and videogames to know about that kind of stuff. But I'm glad that I'm being impressive here...well...I always am! XD

Well I mean, it's not the actual same thing. But it's so close to the real stuff!

to ellenblake : I've had problems before with links not working in other countries. I have no idea why.

@same thing - LOL - pretty big difference between "teenager in love" and "teenager in jail" . And I love the couplet:

"While the kids are watching Dion singing about the stars
The Belmonts are out in the parking lot stealing hubcaps off of cars."

But thanks for telling me about Roy Hamilton - it's weird to learn stuff about early rock and roll from a French woman who's more than 40 years younger than I am but it just makes my that much more impressed with you.

to talonequ : Funny thing, that Roy Hamilton link didn't work, I mean it takes me to the youtube page and to the right song. But nope!
Well anyway, you got to hear the right song anyway.

Yep you did forget the link for that parody.
And that's really it, it's not even a parody at this point. It's really the same thing!

to ellenblake : That last link to the Roy Hamilton song didn't work either but I did a search and came up with this:

His influence on Elvis is obvious but I think that the early Elvis (Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, etc. is rawer and, to my ears better. Still, it's good to hear this influence. I'll have to see if D is familiar with her.

@parody - did you listen to the "Teenager in Love" song? Silly me, I forgot to put in the link to the parody by the Four Freshman. It's a parody of a number of hit songs of the late 50's but the bit about Teenager in Love starts at 3:40

to talonequ : Sure but you're not really into games anyway! Eh eh!

Here's the Roy Hamilton song from another link:

What parody?

And yeah that Dion does have a big Knopfler style and sound. It's cool too!

Well, of course if a song was the theme of a game that you like, it would be a favorite of yours. That clip won't get me to play the game but I did like the German shepherd.

I couldn't play the Roy Hamilton clip as it's blocked in this country for some reason. But I'll check out another if you want to send me one. Oddly, I've not heard of him but I'll bet D has.

Did you listen to the parody?

Here's a great Dion song from the late 80's - sounds like Mark Knopfler on guitar but apparently it's actually Dave Edmunds, another superb guitarist.

Oh it's not my favorite Dion song, I prefer The Wanderer but that might be because I've played too much of Fallout 4.

And Del is a great singer. I really like Runaway...and I'm not original on this one.
The original version of Hats Off To Larry is fucking great.

But really if you don't know him, go and check Roy Hamilton. He's sooooo good!
And well he was Elvis biggest inspiration.

I'm quite familiar with Runaround Sue - good song but not my favorite of Dion's.

And after you listen to that, check out this takeoff on it - go to 3:40 and have a chuckle

Here's another in the same vein as Runaround Sue, from the same time period

And another by the same, great Del Shannon
