In Memory of the Murdered Churches.....

Deleted

Notre Dame is a sublimation of the world, the most vivid connection of the Middle Ages with our days, its spire is the core of France, its culture and history. Before us is not just a wounded monument - before us is the wounded flesh of France, its people....
There is a bitter symbolism in the fact that it happened when Europeans were flooded with migrants, when the great culture embodied in the cathedrals of France was sold to the crowds and hordes of tourists when the cathedral was better and more majestic than those who enter it today....
We'll have to re-read Proust “In Memory of the Murdered Churches” - a requiem for the temples that died and suffered in the First World War. It would seem that it was a long time ago. But today Dies Irae. And from today there is no more relevant books. For in the flames of the cathedral we see the future of Europe.  What a pity......

Leave to Wagner the dreary goddess Erda
Vile silt upon which Wotan abandons himself to forget
Azure Beauty, yet when the squall comes, the sea of
Marmara is nothing but mire where many a sailor perishes
If he lets himself be engulfed, if he clews up his sails too late
If he hasn't supplicated soon enough to St. Médard,
Whose real name, taken from the Latin, is St. Merde:
Let us not insist, we must be able to renounce
- What etymology itself has lost -
Things without beauty, for example shit.
You who crown me young girls in flower
Who dress in drill, in satin or otter fur,
Forget those blacknesses; prefer colours
(That evoke the white medusa from the blue reflections)
Of the single nectar delicious to you alone
Young girls in flower, oh drinker of ...

It is one of the oldest buildings still in use today???  I might not give a shit about religion. But for its architecture and history, it was sad to watch,  fortunately it didn’t burn to the ground.  Now some may say what about the Parthenon or Coliseum.  Yes ! Old. Still in use.  No !

to littlewanker : Awww poor little feeble minded, uneducated, emotionally disturbed, perpetually wrong, ignorant, racist, delusional, drug induced, simpleton, arm chair expert of nothing Liberal got their feelings hurt because they have no defense, facts or educated opinion, so can just say "go get fucked". Guess what perpetually wrong one, I already read that book so i don't need to re-read it. And my statement still stands that without the Vatican, Europe wouldn't have stood and all the countries we have to day wouldn't exist. Hell you wouldn't be Australian if it wasn't for your dead ancestors being nothing but criminals sent to that penal colony. Darn, those facts. But go ahead and tell the doctors and deathbed attendants to go get fuck in your full of shit delusional drug induced mind. Buh bye.

to littlewanker : It wouldn't have existed, nor the society you currently exist in without it. But please, by all means, if something bad happens to you, don't beg and ask me for prayers and thoughts. I really hate wasting my time caring about an atheist who only uses religion to seek attention during an opportunity.

Alex i don't understand what you are asking me, but my comment was aimed at NoLimeslaveh. That's why it says who it is to. I am not sure why you put question marks and "Who? and I have?" Please let me know what you are asking me.

I think I get what you are saying (symbolism and metaphysical dimensions to this event), I would like to know more about your views. Though I think I had better read Proust fist though.

to i_luv_pantyhose : I agree. such an icon and survived so much. When history is lost, things get forgotten. I was relieved to hear that alot of the priceless artifacts were removed but still the spire fell. I hope they can restore it.
