Misuse of the Words "Bare Midriff" Rant

Usually I don’t care about fashion. It’s never mattered all that much to me what I or anyone else wears. I see clothing as nothing more than an essential for humans in need of protection from cold temperatures or other external dangers. Outside of our evolutionarily anomalous human norm of imprisoning our bodies for the sake of saving face, promoting brands, appearing authoritarian, or conservatively enticing potential mates (all of which I find to be a tad unnatural or at least unhealthy), clothing serves no other purpose. That being said, I am sick to death of people misrepresenting what a bare midriff is. A midriff is the area of a person’s body just below or slightly above the base of the rib cage and just above or slightly below the top of the hip bones. A bare midriff should refer exclusively to an article of clothing that fully exposes the area of the body I just described. Why? Because if the area of skin exposed by the woman’s outfit in Figure A qualifies as a bare midriff then by that logic it can be claimed that the woman in Figure B isn’t wearing a mask even though she clearly is. Get your terminology straight!
