8mm Cine films…..what a find…or catch
A few years ago I used to convert old cine films that families had in shoeboxes and copy and convert them onto dvd and digital formats preserving precious family memories.
I was always on the look out for 8mm cine projectors that I needed to project the films onto and mirror and rear projected screen, a rather crude but simple method filming the screen with a digital camera.
I use to trawl the local car boots in Glasgow at Blochairn, Polmadie, the Zoo and even as far out to Yoker in the west and Lanark to the east, looking for 8mm cine projectors.
This particular morning I came across one at Blochairn being sold by a sweet old white haired lady. She wanted £7 for it and it seemed a good buy at that price. She said her husband of over 40 years had passed away and she was clearing out his attic den. I gave her the money and she asked if I was a fisherman, thinking she was selling his old fishing rods, I said wasn’t into fishing and she held up a poly bag full of wee 8mm cine reels explaining these were fly tying and casting films he had.
