Tip: Porn management completely reinvented
Do you save your porn? And if so, how do you organize it? I have accumulated over 720 GB and 2200 clips over the decades. Why is that? Because I'm into various fetishes and it's often difficult to find good material. I've tried to keep it well organized with directories and file names that are as unique as possible. But when so much material comes together, it reaches its limits.
When I watch porn, I usually have certain ideas about what I want to see. These can be very specific wishes, such as men having their asses whipped by a dominatrix with small breasts and wearing high heels. Or a BDSM session in which a woman is wet and whipped to orgasm. Maybe because I was inspired by an encounter in everyday life. Sometimes I just want to be taken through my collection.
Not only do I have a lot of porn, but as a passionate photographer I also have a lot of pictures. I enjoy watching movies and series. I also have a lot of folders and documents due to my job. Therefore, I bought a NAS that runs Docker containers. I have set everything up with Immich (photo solution), Paperless-NGX (document management) and Jellyfin (media library) over the last few weeks. It was time-consuming, but the result is a great, completely new approach to all these things. It really was worth all the time. And my next logical question was: Can't I do the same for my porn?
Yes, it works, it's even great. With "Stash". Stash is available for most platforms and also available as a Docker image. It's very fast, well thought through, has a modern interface in the style of Xhamster or ******* (templates are available) and, above all, allows extensive management of your collection. With studios, performers, tags and so on. The content can be accessed and viewed directly in the browser. It also works on your cell phone. You can freely configure and customize almost everything.
The search is ingenious: you can combine almost any number of queries, for example "Show all performers with the tag 'masochist' in clips with the tags 'whip', 'feet' but without the tag 'FemDom' and show the latest clips first". Previews in the Xhamster style are generated so you can skip through clips. Markers can be used to pull out special moments in clips ("Drips from a caning"). It automatically finds duplicates and can also pull descriptions from online sources. There is even a plugin that allows you to find performers by their faces using AI. In the fetish area, however, it is limited because there is simply less maintenance. However, I was able to find the better-known dominatrices, for example.
Sure, I had to invest some time to organize everything properly. But I also took the opportunity to sort out and tidy up junk. Rediscovered old and new treasures. Found out plenty of stuff about the performers. For me, porn is more than just cumming. When I have the feeling that I'm watching performers who really like what they're showing, it takes on a completely different quality for me. Among other things, Stash makes exactly that possible.
BTW, I incidentally discovered a new fetish for myself. More on this in another post.
