I'm a single female living alone in a small town. No one to protect me, Should I get a gun or is it not worth the time to get one. What do you guys think. help me with this.

I own 3. One on each floor of the house and I carry. So you probably know my answer. Definitely take a class, not just for the shooting practice but to better understand the laws of your state. Then I suggest going to a range and trying different calibers to determine that which you are most comfortable shooting. Do not buy until after doing this. You gotta have something you’re comfortable with. My 2 cents.

+1 for the classes. Get out there and shoot as often as possible. The more comfortable you are with it, the safer you'll be.

Definitely get a gun and have someone qualified teach you how to use it - can be at a range or a brother, brother in law , etc.
