One of the most common methods is boiling in water. Salted water is brought to the boil in a sufficiently large pot and the beans are cooked in it for about 10 minutes until they are soft. This method is very simple, you just have to be careful not to overcook the beans. Adding 1 teaspoon of baking powder or baking soda preserves the bean's bright green color that would otherwise be watered down during cooking.
