Question: How to adult stores stay open

Adult stores don't stay in business, adult boutiques do. There is nothing wrong with a good old fashion smut store, but the days of wall to wall videos and magazines with women on them glazed in semen are over, unless you live in AZ, Alaska, or Florida.

I saw a steady decline of adult videos sales go down, till they dropped like a bad stock. Yet sex toy sales went drastically up, and that industry exploded. Even years later there are a lot of new toys that go buzz and do other crazy things.

Any adult shop that wanted to stay in business basically had to modified their appearance and what they sold, from tripling down on the sex toys to carrying lingerie. The classic customer of men coming in for porn changed over to women and couples.

There are zillion and one sites that sell sex toys which has hurt the market in some cases and areas, but got women interested. For the most part masturbation is a private thing, yes girls buy their friends toys but talking to various customers when it comes to why they don't use online sites is actually very logical. If your in your early 20's, you might still be sharing your amazon account with family, on the other side of the coin you might share your account with your c***dren. To go along with that, someone in the household, might not read the package and might be expecting something for themselves that isn't sexual. People don't read who the package is for and sort of assume it's for them.

Women aren't afraid to spend money on something that is going to make them cum, but chances are if you used an online site and see a similar looking vibrator for 12 dollars vs 80 dollars, more than likely you are going to get something that doesn't work well or not long. We hate spending money on something that doesn't work, so even if we are 5-10 dollars more for a jack rabbit vibrator compared to an online store, we (women) are okay with that because we can ask questions. Chances are, if it's anything worth while, we used it.

Lingerie has come back in style, so that's a whole new avenue of revenue. Remember there is a difference between a smut shop and a boutique. We have bridal parties come in, to help the bride pick out her get up for the big night. In fact, having bachelorette parties where you rent out the store after hours is actually a thing now.

I been to 50 (about) adult stores in different states and even countries, the typical smut store still does exist and thrive. In parts of Alaska where the info structure for the internet isn't the best, where your either paying per GB or speeds similar to dial up still do well.

Yes Virginia, gloryholes do exist. AKA viewing booths. Many places in AZ always had them or do to porn brought them. There is actually a lot of money to make in viewing booths, but the initial cost can be hefty as well as the fines, men aren't even suppose to masturbate in them by law. It probably goes without saying, it's hard to get someone to clean up a booth.

In the same boat are theater rooms which are a cheaper alternative, I actually vaguely remember there being a couple of adult theaters back when you would check the paper for movie times. Since they were done away with mostly because no one was going, some smut stores bring back the experience of watching porn with other people. Of course more than just watching a porn flick goes on.

As far as women getting turned on, as a bisexual woman that's part of the fun when I'm helping another woman out and seeing her face when she finds that "toy" that is going make her cherry pop like crazy. I think both sexes prefer women over men when they do have questions, I have worked with some guys who really knew what they were talking about, but when you move away from the smut and more into the toy and lingerie sector you need women. Obviously a guy can't do a fitting. More than that, over the last few years guys haven't been applying, mind you most of the people where I work have been there for years, but I think guys are afraid to even apply due to the climate of society. If you work in adult store people assume you done some crazy things, basically your a slut. I think for men, they assume they are pervy.

Good vibrations has been around forever, sometimes in the 70's. There are a few more risqué classes you can go to, like bodysex. I went to two different workshops which was very interesting but it's not for every woman, within 20 minutes your naked. It's probably a little bit of a male fantasy to think about a group of women masturbating together and actually watching up close and personal. There is a tantric workshop out there, or at least was for couples. I know for the bodysex workshop there was about 87 things you had to sign.
