Making new connections

As the virtual world unfolds before me I am left with little alternative but to embrace new connections through the world wide web. Once upon a time meeting a potential partner be it casual or long term through internet outlets was deemed as a desperate measure used by the socially dysfunctional. This however is now a tool for the majority and a nesasary way of communication in all aspects. I have recently registered with a popular dating site and have been very lucky to have matched with a male a few years my junior, we have stayed in contact regularly through a free messaging site. It is highly unlikely that I would have met this person by chance so for this reason alone I am thankful for the virtual world many of us live in.

You make a good point, if we make a commitment to another person by what ever means of communication then it should be binding
in any circumstances. I am intrigued by your virtual relationship with this girl and I wonder how you make plans for the future if you are afraid of meeting in person for fear of wrecking your fantasy which raises the issue of what will be the development stages in the commitment ? I would suggest that virtual relationships may succeed depending on your personal criteria, This is not a new fad as mortals since the beginning of time have made a life long commitment to their gods, now that's virtual right there.

Thanks for responding, Yes I do think lust and infatuation can be introduced and maintained for a long period of time virtually however at some point the yurn for physical intimacy will over power virtual satisfaction, this in my opinion will only lead to an unfaithful act by either parties at some point in the relationship. If we talk about loving our partners this means loving every aspect of them unconditionally, through sickness and health so if we are not physically there for them in their time of need then we are not fulfilling our role of life companion. Long distance relationships can work because we hold onto the hope of seeing them even if its seldom but to conduct a virtual bond will in my opinion only last for a certain time. We were born to communicate physically and emotionally with eachother ultimately to create new life.
