Distain

Who would love this heart of mine?
Why would they want to?
What could I ever hope to gain, but hurt and distain?

The tears refuse to fall, as the walls go back into place,
When will I ever learn, no one wants to hear?
The pain is unending, the steel bars tightening, all I have ever wished for flushed down the drain.

Maybe one day I will find the space and crawl away from it all, but today you will have to bear the sight with uncontained distaste.

Mirror reflection cracked and music out of tune, I will wait until dark to move.
No more kisses or loving caresses, what could hurt me more than to lose so much?
I ache and wail though there’s no-one to hear.
How can I bear such unlimited pain, it is all down to you?

I burn with slight and crumble to dust; you were my muse now even that is lost.
Where did we go that you refused to follow? Where did I turn for you to get lost?
