The True Beginning ....(My Cousin Madeleine)
It started when I was 18.I was asked to remove myself my my place of residence. That request came from my parents. I was apparently a bad k** ,but I was still a decent student and I was starting college in the fall. As luck would have it, my elderly grand mother lived near where I would be attending. Grandma had a 3 story row house, she lived in the middle floor and the top and bottom floors had full apartments that she kept unoccupied. All three floors were connected by a stairwell , but each floor was separate. It was decided by the family that I would crash in the bottom apartment as long as was in school and I kept an eye on my grandmothers health.
As we know I was a bad k** so with the rigors of school , immaturity and life in general I really did not have time for grandma care. The family decided that they would move someone in to the top floor better suited to that task. My step- cousin Madeleine was a nurse so it was a good fit.She soon moved in.
Our families lived about 20 miles apart, but we were still close knit. Maddie had known me her whole life, she was 11 years older than me. She was my babysitter when I was a boy, she taught me how to swim down at her families shore house when I was about 10 and she gave me my first driving lessons and helped me to get my permit.
